Safe Communities/Safe Schools Nights

Safe Communities/Safe Schools Nights

The Plaquemines Parish School Board will be hosting Safe Communities/Safe Schools Nights during the week of November 13th along with our preventative partners from the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Plaquemines Community Care Center, and the Plaquemines Parish District Attorney’s Office.  We will discuss issues adversely affecting our youth and communities in Plaquemines Parish.  They are based off of the results of the Louisiana Safe and Supportive Schools Initiative (LSSSI) survey taken in 2016 by students in grades 7-12 and discussions with the PPSB’s preventative partners.  The topics will include:

1.     Sexting, Age of Consent, and Carnal Knowledge

2.     Vaping, tobacco use, and marijuana as it pertains to minors

3.     Early mental health interventions and adolescent mental health

4.     Increasing protective factors – what the schools are doing.

Dates, times, and locations are:

Keeping in mind the nature of the topics to be discussed, the Safe Schools/Safe Communities Nights are for adults and students in grades 7 and above only.
